lovely words Lauren, I was right there with you the whole way. I love the photo for your application, you look fab-u-lous darling. I am so glad you are getting back into your art and drawing, it is also a timely reminder to myself to get the stuff back out again....
I used to read in bed during the day much more as a child; being a child makes that vastly easier than it is now. But today, I'm catching up on my readings, in bed, with a sprawl of books around me, and even though I have a pounding migraine, I feel at peace-ish.
I love this for you. I used to wake early on a Saturday morning and read an entire Baby-Sitters Club or Goosebumps book before anyone else would wake up. Reading isn't a priority for me now, it feels more like a to-do than joy and I am trying to get that back. I am inspired by you and I hope you enjoy that reading my friend π§‘π§‘𧑠I also hope you feel better very soon.
One has to start with that supermodel photo of you for your passport L....It cannot be passed...You have arrived in your life :) Whatever you are doing, just keep doing it! Love that your sketchbook has such deep meaning to you...and how art and creativity has such a deeply routed special place in your childhood and I'm so glad to know you have the pen/chalk/paint/markers back in your hands! Thanks so much for the mention too (you are so good) but the happiest part of this post for me is two things: 1. Your new Monday vibe! You deserve joy everyday! Glad you are grabbing it with both hands! 2. As always the honest, raw, deep sharing of your experiences from life & how healing this sharing is for all your readers. Be you and never change because it's your special gift of writing that will continue to win hearts left right and center x
Ahhh, the sketchbook. I bought a little one a few weeks ago after being surrounded by my momβs and grandfatherβs incredible drawings this summer. As if that undeniable talent could be magically transferred to my own hands. (Note to self: making art with words is definitely your stronger suit).
The sketchbook has turned into a fairy tale for the future, capturing in sketches and words the natural glory discovered on hikes through the woods and paddles around this summer island retreat.
I am so happy to read this - "a fairytale for the future". It is just a nice thing to have with you, and for me, it was this past week on the island especially. Funny how they seem to go hand-in-hand with nature.
A reminder that I am sure your Mom and Grandfather took a lot of practice to get to the level you saw in those sketchbooks π§‘
