I love this question. I let this stew in my mind for a couple days so I could provide a well thought answer.
Mom - My mom as she is now would be played by Laurie Metcalf as she was in Lady Bird. Passive aggressive and judgmental, yet compassionate and loyal. She cares about her kids deeply and wants the best for them even though she struggles with what their version of the "best" actually is. Now, if I was casting my mom's young lady self, I would cast Lori Singer. My little sis and I used to watch Footloose roughly once per week and were always amazed at the resemblance between Lori Singer and our mom when she was in her twenties. My mamma was very pretty (and still is!) and was a bit of a party girl, so the shoe fits.
My best friend - I'll let my sister take this slot, and I have long insisted that her celebrity doppleganger is Drew Barrymore (yes, she is THAT adorable). Especially since Drew is naturally funny and has that sort of girl-next-door with a funky twist vibe.
My boss - I'm not very close with my current boss, so I'm going to cheat this question into a second best friend question by using someone who USED to be my boss but was so amazing, warm and lovely that they transitioned into being one of my soulmates/bff's/sisters. *wink wink, nudge nudge, she also has an amazing podcast and prolific weekly newsletter…*
So difficult to cast you but I would be lying if I hadn't thought about this many times before, so I do have an answer. I would chose this actress based on looks because I feel you resemble each other, but she also has a bit of a bad reputation so my answer will be two-fold. Based on looks alone, I would cast Lea Michele. Striking features, the kind of face that you've never seen on another person and has a magnetic quality that makes you just want to keep looking. Based on vibes and style though, my answer would be 60's fashion icon Marianne Faithfull. Demure and edgy and beaming with creativity - you've already reached icon status in my eyes.
Love you so much! Thank you for this fun question!
I was smiling through all of this before I even got to the part about me hehe then I was BEAMING! I love these answers - all of them - so much!
I can't wait to watch this movie. There WILL be a scene set in a karaoke bar where all of these characters plus you get up and sing a Janis Joplin song at your bachelorette party or something. I love you so much my friend 🧡🧡 Thank you for sharing all this magic!
My mum - Emma Thompson; she would find humor where I couldn't. And I agonized over who to pick for my best friend, so I will go instead with the cat and hope she pulls it off.
This is such a great idea! The first two are hard to pin down, but to play my sister/cousin/best friend, I'd have to Quinta Brunson of Abbott Elementary. She could truly capture her essence and she's short, so there's that.

NEW GIRL FOREVER!
Also love these answers, yes! Emma is a dream! I also love the idea of the cat - brilliant - and who would play you?
Nick Miller moonwalk away!!
Okay, I would *love* Florence Pugh to play me, but that is purely out of vanity and my obsession with her Instagram cooking videos. She is a delight!
GO FOR IT! You get to choose I say YES! 🧡
